What is IMonti 4-H



IMonti 4-H PYDC is an organization that empowers youth to reach their full potential through experiential learning and positive youth development. We believe that youth require four essential elements to thrive, namely; belonging, mastery, independence and generosity. And we connect these with the 5Cs of positive youth development (competence, confidence, caring, connection, character) resulting in productive young people that positively contribute to their communities.

Our programs take into account the fact that young people have a combination of talents and abilities that might not get the chance to be displayed in a school setting. These are then harnessed and showcased through the projects that members choose to complete annually. This provides them with the opportunity for engaged learning, self-determination and mastery through the experiential learning model of doing, reflecting and applying. Young people are then able to develop their critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Our programs also address the need for strengthening vocationally-oriented education in South Africa. Our members are exposed to needed technical and artisan skills at an early age to provide the country with a pool of skilled technicians and artisans. We also focus on utilizing asset based community development whereby members identify assets within their communities they can use to successfully complete their projects. We aim to inculcate a culture of creating something out of nothing and reverse the culture of dependency on the government.

A 4-H club can use the following sample templates to design its constitution and bylaws. Some sections are required without revision, other sections are required with revisions allowed, some sections are highly recommended, and others are optional.
